schizotypy

no one is perfect, everyone is crazy.
we all constantly make decisions and perform actions with no basis in logic, the end result of our individual personalities.
Emil Kraepelin developed the medically accepted categorical approach to psychology, which labels individuals as
manic-depressive
psychotic
schizophrenic
etc.

schizotypy is a broad concept that advocates a continuum of psychological states with these conditions at one end of the spectrum and total sanity at the other.
the concept is by no means unified, there are many interpretations.
schizotypes commonly experience four categories of symptoms:
abnormal perception
scattered thoughts
introversion
unstable moods

they are also more creative and prolific, less inhibited.
the contrast is turned up on their world.
tortured artists

skip class.

there is no logical reason to paint a picture or write a poem.

optical illusion

it is always happening, you are failing to perceive the world as it is.
Hermann von Helmholtz conducted the first modern study of eyesight and determined that it is actually very poor.
He concluded that the perception of vision is largely based on a series of learned assumptions based on life experience.
these assumptions fall into 6 categories:
proximity, similarity, closure, symmetry, common fate, continuity.

imagine the perceptions of an infant.
when you play peekaboo, you are literally entering and leaving existence in the mind of the child.

our sight is also based on fixation.
the image of the object on which you are focusing is updated 3 or 4 times a second with clarity, while your periphery receives 90 low-quality images a second.

look into a bright light.
shut your eyes tightly.
stare at a field of color.
turn your head sideways.

optical illusions provide insight into the disparity between perception and reality.
they fall into 4 categories:

ambiguous:

distorting:

paradox:
